This won’t be a long article, stop eating animal products, job done!
Well done, you are now an advocate for a WFPB lifestyle or an ethically responsible Vegan.
Yeah, if only it were THAT simple.
When I changed to a WFPB diet, I did it overnight. At 10:30pm on a Friday night I literally said out loud…..
That’s it, I’m done. I’m WFPB from now. I have to do this
Inadvertently Vegan
The health benefits were compelling enough that I had to at least give it a red hot go and not just a dip my toe in the water go, an absolute, both feet, all in go, as it could save my life.
I didn’t have much to lose.
What do you need to consider?
Depending on any of the following, there are a few things that might influence how you make the change.
Some things to consider are:
- Are you cooking for a family?
- Are you going this alone or are you doing this with your friend, flatmate, partner, family or significant other?
- What is your lifestyle, do you eat out 5 nights a week or just a couple of nights a month?
- Do you normally cook and are confident in the kitchen?
- Do you travel for work regularly?
- Do you stay in the same place each time but can’t cook ( I worked in Melbourne for more than a year once commuting from Sydney to work in Melbourne 5 days a week, staying in hotels and only coming home for the weekends)?
- Do you travel for longer but have the chance to cook (I’ve worked in regional centers where I had my own place or a room with a kitchenette for 10 days and then went home for 4 days but I couldn’t leave food there such as staples like pepper, salt, nooch… )?
- Do you work in a mine where someone cooks for you on a roster like 10 days on 4 days off, 2 weeks on 1 week off or any other variation?
- Have you already been eating a wide variety of food or are you coming from a fairly plain foodscape?
- For some people this is going to be a food adventure where they are going to move away from mashed potatoes and the same three veg to a new world of food choices
- For others this will be about learning some new techniques or adding some new things in to their repertoire
- What education do I need on nutrition, supplements and food choices?
So what are the choices to going WFPB or vegan?
#1 The ALL IN – check your pantry stocks, clear out the bad and have a go
#2 The MIDWEEK MADNESS – Monday-Friday true to the cause but on the weekends we’ll see what happenss
#3 The WEEKEND WARRIOR – Only have time on the weekend to put some effort into this
#4 The DIP YOUR TOE IN – You want to have a go but need to see if this can really work for you
#5 The VEGETARIAN – A soft way to create a step change, it’s a way to gradually eliminate things from your diet before you take the next step
